Urgent: ‘Annie’ Auditions at Mineral Area College on Dec. 13

URGENT UPDATE: Auditions for the beloved musical “Annie” are set to take place on December 13 at the Mineral Area College Fine Arts Theater. This is a must-attend event for aspiring young actors, with auditions starting at 10 a.m. for those aged 14 and under and 3 p.m. for actors aged 15 and up.

CALLBACKS will occur on December 14 at 6 p.m. at the same location. Participants are advised to prepare a 60- to 90-second song and bring their own accompaniment track on a Bluetooth-compatible device. Acapella auditions are not permitted, and video submissions will not be accepted.

Directing this production is Kaity Conaway, a teacher from Farmington, who expressed her excitement: “I’m super excited to get to direct Annie because it’s one of the first movie musicals I remember watching as a kid.” Conaway is particularly enthusiastic about the musical’s choreography and has already witnessed some impressive dance ideas from choreographers Janna Hagerty and London Miscisin.

Actors interested in auditioning will receive an audition preparation bundle via email, which includes character monologues and a choreography video. Those attending auditions should dress in appropriate dance attire, memorize their dance routines, and be ready to perform both monologues and choreography.

The available roles include iconic characters such as Annie, Warbucks, and Miss Hannigan, among others. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin on January 5 and will run weekdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. until February 25. Performances are slated for February 26-28 at 7 p.m. and March 1 at 3 p.m.

This production offers a unique opportunity for young performers to shine and connect with the rich history of musical theatre. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this exciting event at the Mineral Area College. Prepare your audition materials now and mark your calendar for this pivotal day!
