Local Generosity Shines in Give-A-Christmas Campaign

The annual Give-A-Christmas campaign is making a significant impact in Fayette County, with contributions reaching a total of $1,760 toward its ambitious goal of $10,000. This initiative, which supports the Salvation Army, aims to provide essential assistance to those in need, ensuring that all donations remain within the local community.

As of Wednesday morning, the campaign has garnered support from numerous donors, with Sparkle the Christmas Star, the campaign’s mascot, emphasizing the local benefits of the initiative. “It’s an honor to help our Salvation Army units. They do so much good for those who need a helping hand,” Sparkle stated, highlighting the importance of community involvement.

Campaign History and Impact

Now in its 40th year, the Give-A-Christmas campaign was initiated by the Herald-Standard newspaper to bolster the efforts of the Salvation Army. Since its inception, the campaign has raised over $1 million, showcasing the generosity of local residents and businesses. Contributions will be accepted until December 23, 2023, with the final total being reported in the Christmas Eve edition of the newspaper.

Community members interested in supporting the Give-A-Christmas campaign can send donations to Give-A-Christmas, c/o Herald-Standard, located at 8 E. Church St., Uniontown, PA, 15401. Checks should be made payable to Give-A-Christmas. Additionally, donations may be dropped off at the newspaper office from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Donors are encouraged to include notes honoring or memorializing loved ones, as well as holiday messages, to personalize their contributions.
