Culinary Architecture Relocates to Little Italy, Expands Offerings

UPDATE: Culinary Architecture, a beloved gourmet market in Pigtown, is set to relocate to Little Italy, with plans for a grand opening in January 2024. The move comes after 10 years of success at its current location at 767 Washington Blvd., where it has gained a loyal customer base and significant social media following, now exceeding 4,100 followers on Instagram.

Owner and chef Sylva Lin confirmed the urgent need for a larger space as the business expands its offerings. The new storefront at 236 S. High St., previously home to Italian restaurant Lew Gambino’s, promises to provide the room necessary to enhance the shop’s diverse product range, including more perishable goods and a wide array of artisan cheeses.

Lin expressed excitement about the move, stating, “I found my home,” during her recent tour of the new location. She added, “When you think about Little Italy in any city, you think about food, and you think about deliciousness. It seemed perfect for me.”

The decision to relocate was not easy for Lin, who has deep ties to Pigtown, both personally and professionally. “It’s hard to tell somebody that we’re going,” she remarked, reflecting on her connection with the community. However, the announcement made on Sunday via Instagram has been met with overwhelming support from customers, many eager to see Culinary Architecture thrive in its new home.

As Culinary Architecture transitions to Little Italy, it aims to not only increase foot traffic but also introduce exciting new programs, including tasting events and a “beautiful, always-evolving cheese counter.” While the new location will feature expanded offerings, Lin assures customers that familiar elements like communal seating and a curated selection of pantry staples will remain.

“This move symbolizes growth and creativity,” Lin stated. “Every city has an iconic place for food. We want to be that in Baltimore.”
