In a commanding performance, Presbyterian College defeated Stetson University 42-7 on October 21, 2023, in Clinton, South Carolina. Key to this victory was Justin Montgomery, who rushed for three touchdowns, helping the Blue Hose remain undefeated with a record of 7-0, including 3-0 in the Pioneer Football League (PFL).

Presbyterian started strong, leading 35-0 by the end of the third quarter. Montgomery opened the scoring with two touchdowns, demonstrating his ability to find the end zone early in the game. In the second quarter, starting quarterback Collin Hurst contributed with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Cincere Gill, showcasing the team’s offensive versatility.

Montgomery’s impressive performance continued into the third quarter, where he added his third touchdown. Antonio Wright also found success, scoring another touchdown during this period. Montgomery finished the game with 54 yards on just eight rushing attempts, highlighting his efficiency on the ground.

Hurst had a solid outing as well, throwing for 236 yards before being relieved by Ty Englehart, who capped off the scoring with a 6-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. This victory marks the fourth consecutive home game in which Presbyterian has scored at least 40 points, emphasizing their offensive strength.

Stetson, now with a record of 3-5 and 2-2 in the PFL, managed to get on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Gunnar Chenier connected with Cayden Betts for a 26-yard touchdown pass, but it was not enough to mount a significant comeback.

This win solidifies Presbyterian College’s position as a formidable contender in the PFL, continuing their unbeaten streak as they look to maintain momentum in the upcoming weeks. The team’s performance on both sides of the ball indicates a cohesive unit capable of competing at a high level.
