Crime Spree and Traffic Incidents Challenge Wyomissing Police

A surge of criminal activities and traffic incidents overwhelmed the Wyomissing Police Department over the weekend of January 6 and 7, 2026. Officers responded to an array of reports, including stolen vehicles, assaults, and multiple traffic collisions, leading to a busy two-day period for law enforcement.

On January 6, shortly after midnight, police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Park Road North. The vehicle was later located in nearby West Reading by local authorities. In the morning, officers were dispatched to Museum Road to assist a person experiencing a mental health crisis. One individual was transported to a hospital, while another was returned to a nursing facility.

Traffic-related incidents dominated the afternoon and evening of January 6. A collision at the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Park Road South resulted in two vehicles being towed, following one vehicle allegedly striking another and a stop sign. A hit-and-run incident was also reported on Bern Road, which left damage to a vehicle’s front bumper.

In addition to traffic incidents, police documented several other reports throughout the day. These included alleged threats on Cleveland Avenue after a verbal altercation, a suspicious inquiry concerning a credit report on Pinewood Road, and a walk-in report of a stolen credit card and headphones valued at more than $650 from a residence on Wyomissing Court.

The following day, January 7, began with a series of early-morning incidents. A traffic stop on Route 222 resulted in a citation for speeding and an unsafe lane change. Additionally, a 911 hang-up call from Van Reed Road was determined not to be an emergency.

As the day progressed, police investigated a death on Spring Street, which prompted a coroner’s involvement. Retail thefts were also reported on State Hill Road and Berkshire Boulevard. In one case, a cologne tester was allegedly taken, while another theft involved property valued at $175.

Incidents on January 7 also included a reported assault on State Hill Road, a fraud complaint involving washed checks on Woodland Road, and a trespassing complaint involving a guest who failed to check out on time but left without incident.

Police logged several motor vehicle accidents that day, including a reportable accident on Fourth Street where one vehicle was towed. Another hit-and-run was reported on Route 422, while a two-vehicle accident was ultimately unfounded as officers were unable to locate the vehicles involved.

Throughout the two days, police received multiple calls regarding individuals allegedly posing as electric company employees on Cambridge Avenue. Reports also surfaced about a suspicious juvenile selling items on Penn Avenue and a disorderly conduct incident involving a woman who refused to leave a location but later departed without issue.

By the end of January 7, Wyomissing Police had responded to a total of 19 incidents for the day, following 17 incidents the previous day. This reflects a significant demand for police services in the borough. Authorities emphasized that all crimes referenced in the blotter are allegations only and that individuals connected to these incidents are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
