UPDATE: Zotac has just announced its latest mini PC, the Zbox Magnus EN275060TC, aiming to compete directly with Apple’s Mac Studio. Measuring just 210 x 203 x 62.2 mm and weighing approximately 1.4 kilograms, this ultra-compact powerhouse promises to deliver remarkable performance in a jacket-pocket-sized chassis.

The Zbox Magnus packs a formidable Intel Core Ultra 7 processor with 20 cores and an Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti graphics card, capable of handling 4K gaming and demanding creative tasks. Its 2.65-liter volume makes it one of the smallest systems equipped with a full desktop-class GPU, offering users the flexibility to customize RAM and storage according to their needs.

The device features dual M.2 slots for SSD installations, supporting up to 96GB of DDR5 memory at speeds up to 6400MT/s. Zotac’s design includes essential components such as Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 for seamless connectivity, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, five USB Type-A ports, and dual Ethernet connections. This extensive connectivity allows users to operate multiple monitors and peripherals efficiently.

However, concerns regarding thermal management and sustained performance remain, particularly given its compact design. The Zbox Magnus comes as a barebones kit, meaning users must install their own memory and storage, which could drive up overall costs once premium components are added.

Pricing for the Zbox Magnus is set at around €1,600 (approximately $1,555 before taxes), positioning it against larger desktop systems that typically offer better cooling and performance. The system relies on a substantial 330W external power supply, which somewhat undermines its compact appeal.

Zotac is marketing the Magnus as an ideal solution for professionals seeking a portable workstation without sacrificing performance. As technology continues to evolve, the Zbox Magnus EN275060TC could potentially redefine the expectations for mini PCs and challenge the dominance of larger desktop systems.
