URGENT UPDATE: A woman is currently recovering in the hospital after being struck by an 18-wheeler early Saturday morning in northeast Raleigh. The incident took place just before 6:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of Capital Boulevard, directly in front of a Circle K convenience store.
According to the Raleigh Police Department, first responders found the woman conscious and alert at the scene. She was able to communicate with officers before being transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance. The truck driver remained at the scene, and authorities are conducting an active investigation to determine fault.
As a result of the accident, part of Capital Boulevard is currently closed near Greywood Drive. The North Carolina Department of Transportation has issued notifications advising drivers to expect delays throughout the morning.
