Viewing and Funeral for Officer Andy Chan Set for Next Week

UPDATE: The viewing and funeral for Philadelphia Highway Patrol Officer Andy Chan are scheduled for next week, as the community mourns the loss of a dedicated officer. Chan, who died last week, suffered critical injuries nearly seven years ago when a driver struck his motorcycle in the Holmesburg area of Philadelphia.

The first viewing will take place on Monday, December 15, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Holy Redeemer Chinese Catholic Church. A second viewing is set for Tuesday, December 16, 2023, from 8:15 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. on the same day.

Officer Chan was a highly respected member of the force, receiving commendations during his career, including one in 2011. The community is coming together to honor his memory, with a yearly fundraiser originally planned for his care being transformed into a memorial event this Friday.

This outpouring of support reflects the profound impact Chan had on the Philadelphia community and the law enforcement family. With these events approaching, residents are encouraged to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a dedicated public servant.

As details unfold, stay tuned for further updates on the memorial arrangements and community tributes to Officer Chan.
