Vacaville Charities Launch Urgent Holiday Drives for Families

UPDATE: As Halloween approaches, Vacaville’s charitable organizations are urgently shifting gears to support local families for the holiday season. Community groups are calling for donations and volunteers to ensure that every family in Vacaville can celebrate with dignity and hope amid rising needs.

The Vacaville Fire Department has officially launched its annual Christmas Fund, encouraging residents to contribute to assist more households than last year. “Every dollar helps us reach more Vacaville residents in need,” the department stated, emphasizing that all donors will receive a letter for tax records. Donations can be made at CityofVacaville.gov/News.

For over 40 years, the Vacaville Christmas Wish program has connected sponsors with underprivileged children, helping fulfill their holiday wishes. Each ornament on the program’s “wish trees” displays a child’s name and three wishes, from toys to winter coats. Community members can “adopt” children or donate cash for volunteers, known as “elves,” to shop on their behalf. Families must register by November 19, 2025, at VacavilleChristmasWish.org.

In tandem, IBEW Local 1245 has kicked off its Fall/Winter Food Drive to support the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. They are accepting nonperishable donations at their union hall at 30 Orange Tree Circle or via their Virtual Food Drive at shorturl.at/9EQ42. Items requested include canned meats, vegetables, pasta, and more. The drive will continue until December 31, 2025.

Additionally, Budget Blinds of Fairfield/Vacaville is collecting food for The Vacaville Storehouse, aiming for 2,500 food items by November 14. Donations can be made at their showroom at 57 Commerce Place, Suite D, or picked up by their design team.

The upcoming Festival of Trees, benefiting Opportunity House, Vacaville’s homeless shelter, is also in urgent need of donors. This popular event runs from November 19 through December 2, inviting participants to design and donate decorated artificial trees from 2 to 8 feet tall. Trees must be dropped off on November 17 between noon and 6 p.m. at the Vacaville Museum. Participants will receive free tickets to the “Cookies for a Cause” event.

With the holiday season just around the corner, these initiatives are crucial for ensuring that all families in Vacaville have the opportunity to celebrate. Community members are urged to get involved, donate, and support their neighbors during this important time of year.
