Utah Mammoth Extend Win Streak to Seven with 3-2 Win over Jets
UPDATE: The Utah Mammoth have achieved a remarkable milestone, extending their winning streak to seven games with a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on September 24, 2023. Dylan Guenther scored the decisive goal with 5:36 remaining in the game, solidifying the Mammoth’s position as a powerhouse in the Western Conference.
This stunning win follows a commanding 6-2 victory against the Minnesota Wild just the night before, bringing Utah’s overall record to an impressive 8-2-0. The Mammoth now boast the best record in their conference, showcasing their dominance on the ice.
“It’s great, I mean, winning is fun,” Guenther stated after the game. His performance has been exceptional, with 11 of his last 17 goals serving as game-winners, demonstrating his pivotal role in the team’s success.
The winning goal came as Logan Cooley and JJ Peterka assisted Guenther, with Peterka’s steal from defenseman Haydn Fleury setting up the play. Michael Carcone and Mikhail Sergachev also made significant contributions, with Sergachev netting a goal in the second period.
Winnipeg fought back, with Mark Scheifele and Dylan DeMelo scoring for the Jets. Scheifele’s power play goal in the second period tied the game at 2-2 after John Marino was penalized for interference.
Mammoth head coach André Tourigny expressed his excitement about the team’s winning streak, stating, “We feel our team is different… we have excitement and confidence.” This newfound confidence has propelled the Mammoth through a challenging series of games.
Utah’s scoring surge occurred within just 1:04, with goals from Sergachev and Carcone giving the Mammoth a 2-1 lead. The Mammoth now prepare to face the Edmonton Oilers in the final match of their four-game road trip on Tuesday night.
This latest victory not only boosts the Mammoth’s standings but also elevates team morale as they continue their pursuit of excellence on the ice. Fans will be eagerly anticipating their next match, hoping to see the Mammoth extend their streak even further.
