UPDATE: A man has been charged with attempted murder in connection to a shocking freeway shooting on June 11, 2023, in Livermore. Authorities are urgently seeking Luis Guerrero, 36, after he allegedly fired multiple shots during a road rage incident on Interstate 580.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that Guerrero’s violent outburst occurred around 9:02 a.m. when he confronted another driver in a Tesla. The targeted driver managed to capture the license plate number of Guerrero’s 2005 GMC Yukon SUV before contacting law enforcement.

Despite being arrested on the day of the incident, Guerrero was released on bail. He has now been formally charged with several serious offenses, including assault with a semi-automatic firearm and shooting at an occupied motor vehicle. Additional charges were filed on November 3, indicating the growing severity of his alleged crimes.

According to court records, after Guerrero fired at the Tesla, he fled the scene. The victim, unharmed but shaken, reported the incident to CHP dispatchers, allowing law enforcement to quickly locate Guerrero’s vehicle. At 11:25 a.m., San Leandro police spotted the Yukon and arrested Guerrero following a brief struggle, during which officers used a taser on him.

During the arrest, authorities discovered an unregistered .45 caliber pistol and shell casings in the Yukon, raising further concerns about Guerrero’s actions. His current whereabouts remain unknown after he made bail, leaving the community on edge.

The CHP is actively seeking information on Guerrero’s location, urging anyone with knowledge to come forward. This incident not only highlights the dangers of road rage but also the potential for violence on our highways.
