Urgent Lane Closures Begin on U.S. 422 Next Week, PennDOT Warns

UPDATE: Major lane closures will impact traffic on U.S. 422 starting Monday, November 17, as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) continues critical reconstruction work. Motorists should prepare for significant delays and plan alternative routes for the week ahead.

From November 17 to November 21, lane closures will occur daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. westbound between the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Armand Hammer Boulevard interchanges. Eastbound traffic will also face closures during the same dates from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. affecting the stretch between Armand Hammer Boulevard and Sanatoga.

In addition to these closures, Sanatoga Road remains closed and detoured between Linfield Road and High Street until December 1 for bridge demolition activities. Motorists are directed to utilize High Street, Evergreen Road, and Linfield Road while navigating detours.

With the ongoing construction part of a substantial $83.6 million project aimed at reconstructing and improving approximately 2.1 miles of the expressway, PennDOT urges drivers to allow extra travel time to avoid congestion.

As part of this critical infrastructure upgrade, PennDOT aims to enhance safety and efficiency for all who use this route, underscoring the importance of these improvements for local residents and commuters alike.

Authorities caution that all scheduled work is weather-dependent, so conditions may change. Stay tuned for updates as this project progresses, and share this information to help others plan their travel effectively.
