Urgent: Hit-and-Run Claims Life of Pedestrian on Denver’s 16th Street

UPDATE: A tragic hit-and-run incident in downtown Denver has resulted in the death of a pedestrian early Sunday morning. The crash occurred at 2:16 a.m. at the intersection of 16th and Market Streets, when the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Milton McBride, allegedly struck a digital kiosk before fleeing the scene.

Authorities report that McBride was arrested later in the day on nearby Wazee Street, following a search that led to the discovery of a Ziplock bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. Surveillance footage captured McBride driving through a parking garage gate on 15th Street, colliding with another vehicle before losing control of his pickup truck and crashing into the electronic kiosk. This caused the kiosk to topple onto the unidentified victim, who died at the scene.

Eyewitnesses described the harrowing moments following the crash, with bystanders reacting in shock as a man fled from the red pickup truck. The digital kiosks, which were installed in 2015, provide vital information to the community, including directories for local businesses and events.

McBride is currently being held on suspicion of vehicular homicide. A blood draw was conducted at Denver Health Medical Center to assess his condition at the time of the incident.

The Denver Police Department continues to investigate this tragic event, emphasizing the need for safety on city streets. As more details emerge, the community is left mourning the life lost in this senseless act.
