Urgent Community Events This Weekend: Don’t Miss Out!
URGENT UPDATE: A bustling weekend of community events kicks off today, with numerous activities across Luzerne County that you won’t want to miss! These events are filled with opportunities for fun, connection, and important services, running through this weekend.
The Wyoming Valley Art in the Garden Exhibition is currently on display at the Schulman Gallery at Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke. This exhibition, featuring stunning works from the 2025 Back Mountain Gardens tour, runs through Friday, October 24. Admission is free and open to the public. Get a taste of local artistry before it closes!
On Saturday, October 25, the Wyoming Valley Stamp Club hosts a spooktacular Halloween event at 1 p.m. at the Hoyt Library in Kingston. Join in on the fun with a children’s Trick or Treat table, a “Haunted Library” display, and special presentations on horror stamps. This event is not just entertaining but also marks National Stamp Collection Month, welcoming new members to the club!
In an essential community effort, a Prescription Drug Take Back drive-thru event is happening at the Luzerne County Courthouse from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 25. The Luzerne/Wyoming Counties Drug and Alcohol Program will provide Narcan, drug deactivation pouches, and medication lock bags—critical resources for maintaining community safety.
The Wyoming Valley Women’s Club invites attendees to a fashion show and scholarship fundraiser at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, at the Holiday Inn in Wilkes-Barre. Advance tickets are available for $30, which includes a delicious luncheon and a chance to win in a basket raffle.
Mark your calendars for the Domestic Violence Service Center’s fundraiser, A Night at Sabatini’s, taking place on Tuesday, October 28, from 6 to 9 p.m.. For $30 in advance or $35 at the door, enjoy unlimited pizza and three drink tickets. Proceeds will support vital services for domestic violence victims in the community.
Additionally, the Dallas Lions Club will host its annual Halloween Party and Parade on Sunday, October 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Back Mountain Regional Fire Station. Children from daycare to middle school are invited for a day filled with entertainment and festivities, including a costume contest with monetary prizes.
