Just hours after the tragedy, Trueit, co-owner of Twisted Seasons Bistro, initiated a program to feed healthcare workers, paramedics, police officers, and firefighters. “We’ve had people from Connecticut and all over Canada and Europe reaching out, asking how they can help,” Trueit stated. She noted that they have received thousands of dollars in donations from hundreds of supporters, all aimed at helping those in need.

Ted Ember, a resident of Fort St. John, traveled two hours to deliver flowers on behalf of his friends and coworkers. “Next thing you know, there are strangers buying flowers too,” Ember explained, highlighting the unity and compassion that has emerged in this dark time.
In addition to local efforts, GoFundMe campaigns for the victims have collectively raised over $1 million, providing crucial financial support to affected families. Trueit has committed to offering free meals for as long as necessary, including on the first day students and staff return to Tumbler Ridge Secondary.
“There’s a school in Vancouver that offered to cover the cost of meals for everyone,” Trueit shared. “Northern Health stepped in to help us manage the logistics, so we accepted that challenge.”
