Times of San Diego Unveils Bold New Look for Community Newspapers

UPDATE: Times of San Diego is transforming its community newspapers with a striking new layout, set to debut this Friday, November 10, 2023. Four of the seven community papers—La Jolla Village News, Beach & Bay Press, Downtown News, and Uptown News—will be available in their redesigned format, marking a significant shift in local journalism.

The redesign aims not only to refresh the papers’ appearance but to enhance the overall reading experience. Julie Main, Operations & Community Relations Manager for Times of San Diego, emphasized that the initiative balances aesthetic improvements with cost-effectiveness. “Printing right now is a big challenge,” Main stated, outlining how the new print size will help keep costs down for the non-profit organization.

The new look is part of a strategic effort to direct more resources towards quality journalism. “All that budget concern is key to having the funding go where we believe it should go,” Main added. “That’s to the journalism we provide.”

Readers can look forward to picking up the redesigned editions at various locations starting this week. Notable spots include:

– **Beach & Bay Press**: Compass Real Estate, 4688 Cass St.; Across from the Pacific Beach Post Office, Cass and Emerald streets; The French Gourmet, 960 Turquoise St.
