Staten Island vs. New Jersey Challenge Kicks Off with Star Coaches

UPDATE: The highly anticipated 19th annual Coaches Choice USA Staten Island vs. New Jersey Challenge is set to launch this Sunday at Moore Catholic in Graniteville, NY. With five thrilling games on the schedule, this year’s event promises an exciting twist: a match featuring two former Jaques Award-winning coaches, both of whom have deep roots in Staten Island basketball.

The second game of the day will see Staten Island Academy take on Bound Brook at 12:30 p.m.. This face-off features Sandy Litkenhaus, a Jaques Award winner from the 1986-87 season, now in her first year coaching SIA, and Jen Derenjanik, a notable three-time Jaques winner from 1998-2000, now in her 12th season at the helm of Bound Brook.

This exciting event has been brought to life thanks to the efforts of James Martinos, a former Islander and veteran coach at St. John Villa. The day’s match-ups include:

Tottenville vs. Spotswood, at 11 a.m.
SIA vs. Bound Brook, at 12:30 p.m.
Notre Dame Academy vs. Mount St. Mary, at 2:05 p.m.
St. Joseph by-the-Sea vs. East Brunswick, at 3:45 p.m.
Moore Catholic vs. Snyder, at 5:20 p.m.
