Skoda Unveils Stunning Imaginary Sedan amid EV Revolution

UPDATE: Skoda has just revealed a striking new concept that car enthusiasts will wish was real—a stunning reimagining of its classic 100/110 sedan. This announcement comes as Skoda continues to solidify its position as the third best-selling automaker in Europe, capturing a 6.3 percent market share through October.

The concept, part of Skoda’s “Icons Get a Makeover” series, showcases the evolution of the brand from its humble beginnings to a leader in electric vehicle (EV) design. The fictional successor to the 100/110, which sold between 1969 and 1977, features a radical design that embraces Modern Solid aesthetics without relying heavily on retro elements.

Skoda’s exterior designer, Martin Paclt, has pushed the envelope with this concept, opting for a sleek, futuristic look that includes no rear window—replaced by a body-colored panel that integrates a central fin. This innovative design also serves as an air intake and houses the third brake light, creating a seamless blend of style and functionality.

Despite its imaginative overhaul, the sedan retains nods to its classic predecessor, including discreet rear-fender vents for cooling—a necessity even for EVs. The new design also features LED light bars that pay homage to the original’s chrome strip and engine vent, and a cleverly disguised charging port on the front fender where the fuel cap once was.

At 163.6 inches (4155 millimeters) long, the original Skoda 100 was compact, but its conceptual successor is larger, based on the current-generation Superb. The new design incorporates a dual-trunk layout, maximizing efficiency for EV use.

These imaginative concepts are crafted by Skoda designers during their off-hours and are not intended for production. However, they reflect the brand’s creative spirit and dedication to innovation in the EV space. With the next-generation Octavia already previewed in electric form with the Vision O concept, Skoda is clearly setting its sights on an electric future.

As Skoda continues to churn out these captivating renderings, the automotive world watches eagerly, anticipating what the company will showcase next. While these designs may remain in the realm of fantasy, they underscore a growing trend among traditional automakers to embrace their heritage while looking boldly toward the future.

Stay tuned for more updates as Skoda pushes the boundaries of vehicle design and electrification. This unveiling is a reminder of the emotional connection many have with automotive history, igniting excitement for what lies ahead in the evolving landscape of transportation.
