Penguins Secure Third Straight Win, Dominate Wolfpack 5-2
UPDATE: The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have just clinched their third consecutive victory of the season, overpowering the Hartford Wolfpack with a decisive 5-2 win last night in Hartford, Connecticut. This flawless start to the season puts the Penguins at an impressive 3-0 record.
The Penguins wasted no time, establishing a commanding two-goal lead after the first period. Atley Calvert spearheaded the offense, netting two goals, with the first coming just minutes into the game after Rafaei Harvey-Pinard scored at the 12-minute mark off assists from Chase Pietila and Ryan Graves.
The Penguins extended their lead to 3-0 thanks to Avery Hayes, who scored his second power-play goal of the season. The Wolfpack responded with two goals, narrowing the gap to 3-2 with 14 minutes remaining in the game. However, Calvert’s second goal of the night solidified the Penguins’ lead to 4-2 with less than ten minutes left on the clock.
With less than three minutes remaining, Tristan Broz sealed the deal, scoring the final goal for the Penguins. Goaltender Sergei Murashov was instrumental in the victory, stopping 28 out of 30 shots, showcasing his skills in critical moments.
Now, the Penguins are preparing for an exciting matchup against the Bridgeport Islanders, set for Saturday at 7:05 p.m. They will return to Mohegan Arena on Wednesday to face off against their rivals, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, before heading to Charlotte next weekend for back-to-back games.
