Nor’easter Set to Hit New Jersey Midweek, Threatens Beach Erosion
UPDATE: A potent nor’easter is expected to impact New Jersey starting Wednesday, bringing a mix of gusty winds, rain, and the threat of significant beach erosion along the shore. The National Weather Service warns that this storm could disrupt Halloween festivities, with strong winds potentially lingering into the weekend.
The storm is anticipated to intensify late Wednesday night through Thursday night, although details about its exact strength and rainfall amounts remain uncertain. “The setup favors a storm; however, the details regarding its strength and exact track remain uncertain,” the National Weather Service stated on Sunday.
Residents along the Jersey Shore should prepare for possible coastal flooding and beach erosion, especially in areas still recovering from recent storms. The advisory includes an extended period of gusty winds from Wednesday through Saturday, raising concerns for Halloween trick-or-treating on Friday night.
Tonight, conditions will shift as clear skies and light north winds lead to colder temperatures, with frost advisories in effect until 9 a.m. Monday for multiple counties including Atlantic, Burlington, and Camden. Lows are expected to dip around freezing in northern areas, while coastal regions will see temperatures in the low 40s.
Monday’s forecast predicts cool weather, with highs only reaching the lower to mid-50s, about 5 degrees below normal for late October. Tuesday will continue this trend, with cloudy skies and slightly cooler conditions as a low-pressure system moves south of the region. No precipitation is expected through Tuesday, although light rain may touch some coastal areas later.
As New Jersey braces for this intense weather system, officials urge residents to stay informed and prepare for potential disruptions. With Halloween just around the corner, communities are urged to keep an eye on the forecast as they plan their festivities.
