No. 15 UTEP Takes Aim at No. 3 TCU in High-Stakes Rifle Match
UPDATE: The stage is set for an exhilarating showdown as the No. 15 UTEP rifle team prepares to face off against the No. 3 TCU on Sunday at the UTEP Rifle Range in El Paso. Fans can witness this high-stakes encounter for free, with gates opening at 6:45 a.m. MT and the first relay kicking off at 7:45 a.m. MT.
This match comes on the heels of UTEP’s record-setting performance last weekend, where they achieved a staggering 2,372 in air rifle at the U.S. Air Force Academy. The Miners narrowly fell to No. 7 Air Force in a gripping contest that ended with a score of 4690-4689. Such a close call has ignited excitement for the upcoming duel against TCU, as per UTEP Miners News.
Currently, UTEP boasts an impressive average of 2,311.5 in smallbore and 2,367 in air rifle, bringing their aggregate score to an impressive 4,678.5 over just two matches this season. Leading the charge is standout shooter Carlee Valenta, who has recorded averages of 580.5 in smallbore and 598.5 in air rifle. Valenta’s stellar performance places her 4th in the nation for air rifle and 33rd in aggregate, a testament to her critical role in the team’s success.
