Local Paramedic Bryan Bradshaw Named Tennessee VFW EMT of the Year

UPDATE: Local paramedic Lt. Bryan Bradshaw has just been honored as the EMT/Paramedic of the Year by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Department of Tennessee. The prestigious award was presented on March 3 during a ceremony that highlights the commitment and bravery of emergency responders across the state.

This recognition underscores Bradshaw’s unwavering dedication to the health and safety of Tennessee residents. Previously celebrated by VFW Post 2166 at the local level, his nomination for the state award was forwarded on December 31 after he exhibited exceptional professionalism and service.

Bradshaw and his family were invited to the VFW Mid-Winter Conference, held on February 21 in Manchester, where he received the state-level accolade. Serving with the Carter County Rescue Squad, he began his career as an EMT-Basic, advancing through rigorous training to become an Advanced EMT and ultimately attaining his paramedic license.

His recent upgrade to a critical care paramedic license allows him to provide advanced treatment during emergency situations, including specialty care transports. This advancement is crucial as it enhances the level of care available to critically ill patients in Tennessee.

The annual VFW Public Servant Awards recognize exemplary service in emergency medical services, law enforcement, and firefighting. Bradshaw’s achievement not only honors his individual contributions but also reflects the collective efforts of the dedicated team at the Carter County Rescue Squad.

As the community celebrates this significant recognition, many are encouraged to recognize and support the vital work of paramedics like Bryan Bradshaw, who tirelessly work to protect lives every day.
