UPDATE: The 2025 MAAA volleyball landscape has shifted dramatically, with left-side hitters dominating the recently announced all-conference teams. Coaches revealed their selections on October 30, 2025, following Bismarck’s historic Class 1 state championship win.
Out of a total of 24 players honored, a remarkable 11 were left-side hitters, showcasing their pivotal role throughout the season. This surge in left-side talent reflects a notable trend as these athletes not only excelled offensively but also consistently remained on the court for every rotation.
Regular-season champions Potosi and Valle Catholic led the charge with four all-conference selections each, matching the achievements of Bismarck and Farmington. Potosi’s exemplary performance culminated in their first MAAA tournament victory since 1993. The squad, featuring standout players like Eden Robart, who was the conference’s top attacker, and Macyn McCarthy, the lone libero recognized this season, has made a significant impact on the league.
McCarthy recently surpassed 1,000 career digs, adding to her impressive resume, while setter Adalynn Gibson also crossed the 1,000 assists milestone this season. Meanwhile, Farmington showcased explosive talent with senior Brenna Botkin and junior Kylie Woods contributing to the left-side strength, indicating a growing competitive landscape.
In a fiercely contested sectional match, Valle Catholic triumphed over Arcadia Valley before facing off against the eventual Class 2 champion, St. Vincent, in the quarterfinals. The team’s success is attributed to strong performances from players like Ava Bauman and junior Lexie Rayoum, who emerged as key attackers.
Bismarck celebrated a record-setting 39-3 season, marking their first state championship victory. The Lady Indians exhibited remarkable resilience, overcoming two match points against Leopold and defeating reigning champions Winona in a dramatic comeback.
Arcadia Valley demonstrated tenacity with three all-conference players despite challenges due to graduation and injuries. Standout Hattie Vinyard emerged as a powerful middle hitter, while sophomore setter Annabelle Adams reached the significant milestone of 1,000 career assists.
With the MAAA volleyball season concluding, the focus shifts to next year as teams look to build on their successes and challenge the current power dynamics within the league. Fans and players alike are eager to see how these emerging talents will continue to shape the future of MAAA volleyball.
