iPhone Delivery Scams Surge: Customers Report Empty Boxes
UPDATE: A disturbing trend is emerging in 2025 as iPhone deliveries are increasingly marred by reports of empty boxes being received by customers. Many are pointing to FedEx drivers as potential culprits, raising alarms over the security of package deliveries.
Just hours ago, a Reddit user, identified as Teach8870, shared a shocking experience of receiving a tampered package. Upon delivery, the driver claimed their scanner was still in the truck and handed over a box that was clearly suspicious. “It looked empty,” the user noted, refusing to sign for it. The driver subsequently photographed the box and contacted a supervisor for further investigation.
FedEx’s response was equally alarming. When the customer called to report the issue, they were told they should have accepted the package. This led to the delivery being marked as refused, and an empty box pickup was scheduled. Frustrations escalated when the customer discovered their order was marked as lost in transit, leaving them uncertain about receiving a replacement.
The emotional toll of such incidents is significant, with users expressing anger and disappointment. One Redditor speculated, “Most likely the driver stole it and she tried to play it off.”
This isn’t an isolated case. In a larger thread, multiple users recounted similar experiences, detailing thefts during deliveries. One user reported losing a total of four iPhones in similar circumstances, with packages falsely marked as delivered. After an exhaustive process of calls with FedEx, they eventually found their phones left abandoned on their doorstep days later, suggesting an attempt by the driver to evade responsibility.
The troubling trend raises crucial questions about the security protocols in place for package deliveries. With technology tracking deliveries, why are so many customers still falling victim to these scams? The implications are serious, as consumers are left helpless against potential theft and poor customer service from carriers.
As this issue develops, customers are urged to be vigilant when accepting deliveries. If you suspect a package has been tampered with, do not sign for it. Instead, report the incident immediately to the carrier and document all interactions for your records.
In the coming days, consumers should watch for any changes in delivery policies from FedEx and other carriers as this issue gains traction. The growing number of reports could compel companies to enhance their delivery security measures or risk further reputational damage.
Stay tuned for more updates as this situation unfolds. The safety of your deliveries may depend on it.
