URGENT UPDATE: Austin Animal Services, in partnership with Greater Good Charities, has just opened a free spay/neuter clinic for pets in Austin and Travis County, running from November 13 through November 17, 2025. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on pet owners by offering essential services including spaying, neutering, vaccinations, microchips, and flea/tick prevention treatments—all at no cost.
This clinic, located at 11580 Stonehollow Dr., Suite 160, Austin, TX 78758, is designed to serve 1,200 animals over the five-day period, significantly impacting the community’s efforts to combat animal overpopulation. “As Austin’s municipal shelter, we’re committed to ensuring every pet owner—regardless of income—has access to services that keep pets healthy and communities safe,” stated Rolando Fernandez, Interim Director of Animal Services.
The clinic opens daily at 6:00 AM, with registration available until 10:00 AM or until capacity is reached. Pet owners are encouraged to arrive early, as services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
This marks the sixth free clinic within the past year, which has already successfully offered surgeries to over 5,000 pets. These efforts are a direct response to ongoing challenges related to animal overpopulation, which leads to increased numbers of stray and homeless pets, as well as unintended litters in neighborhoods.
By removing the financial barriers typically associated with spay/neuter procedures, which can cost between $75 and several hundred dollars, this clinic is poised to make a significant difference in the lives of both pets and their owners.
As Austin gears up for another event planned for early 2026, this initiative not only promotes responsible pet ownership but also bolsters community safety. While logistical challenges may arise due to high attendance, the objective remains clear: to uplift the well-being of pets and ensure every animal in Austin has access to quality care.
This community-driven effort reflects Austin’s progressive commitment to animal welfare, affirming every creature’s right to a healthy and safe living environment. Pet owners and animal lovers alike are encouraged to share this news and help spread the word about this vital service.
