UPDATE: Five individuals have been arrested following a brazen burglary that unfolded on Halloween morning in West San Jose. At approximately 10:15 a.m., local police responded to reports of two suspects forcibly entering a residential garage, leading to a swift investigation and arrests.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspects stealing various items from the home. They fled the scene in a vehicle before law enforcement arrived. However, thanks to advanced automated license plate reader cameras, officers were able to quickly identify and track the vehicle, which was located outside a residence on the 100 block of Muirfield Drive.
Upon stopping the vehicle, authorities discovered a stolen rifle, a privately made handgun, and property linked to the burglary. San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih confirmed that three suspects — a 55-year-old man, a 41-year-old woman, and a 32-year-old woman, all from San Jose — were arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of burglary.
In addition, a 44-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, residents at the Muirfield Drive home, were also taken into custody for possession of stolen property and firearm-related offenses. They, too, were booked into county jail.
This incident highlights the ongoing concerns about property crimes in the Bay Area, where sophisticated burglary crews have been increasingly active, capitalizing on the region’s wealth.
Authorities urge anyone with further information regarding this burglary to contact Detective Chris Santistevan at 408-277-4401 or via email at [email protected].
The San Jose Police Department continues to investigate how these incidents connect to broader patterns of criminal activity in the area, prompting residents to remain vigilant. This situation is developing, and more updates are expected as investigations proceed.
