Fatal Multi-Car Crash Closes LA Freeway, Causes Major Traffic Jam

BREAKING: A fatal multi-car crash on the 10 Freeway in Los Angeles has left at least one person dead and caused significant traffic disruptions during morning rush hour. The accident, involving up to four vehicles, occurred early on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, near La Brea Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The entire eastbound side of the freeway was completely closed following the accident, leading to severe backups. Eyewitness reports indicate that by 4:30 a.m., a single lane was reopened, but it wasn’t until 6:35 a.m. that all lanes were cleared for traffic. Authorities have not released details about the deceased or the circumstances surrounding the crash.

This tragic incident follows another fatality earlier this week involving Rogelio Cruz, a 48-year-old tree trimmer who died after falling from a palm tree in the Canoga Park neighborhood. Cruz suffered fatal injuries when he fell 35 feet and landed on a 10-foot iron fence while trimming the tree. He had worked in the profession for two decades, and the company was family-owned.

In a statement, Cruz’s cousin, Richard Areloa, expressed the shock of the family, stating, “Everyday routine. Goes up, does the job, cuts it down, comes back down, goes home, and it just wasn’t like that today.” The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) confirmed that a crisis response team was deployed to support Cruz’s colleagues at the scene.

As authorities investigate the freeway crash, commuters are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid the ongoing delays. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
