Farmington trailed by as many as 12 points early in the game but rallied back to take control in the fourth quarter. Key contributions came from Madison Clay, who scored 11 of her 18 points in the final stretch, and Kate Jenkerson, who assisted on three critical baskets. The Knights improve to 3-0 this season.
The opening quarter saw Farmington fall behind 20-8, but they tightened their defense, limiting Hazelwood West to just seven points in both the second and third quarters. The Wildcats, led by standout Jamiah Herring, who scored 31 points including an impressive 15-of-15 from the free-throw line, struggled to maintain their early lead. Hazelwood West now stands at 0-2 this season.
With the game tied at 27-27 at halftime, Farmington’s offense began to click. A series of jumpers from Jenkerson and Lila Roth, who added 15 points, helped the Knights regain momentum. “We knew we had to fight back after a tough start. Everyone contributed tonight,” said Jenkerson after the game.
In other local action, North County defeated Steelville 68-45, powered by Raegan Pierce, who scored 19 points. Meanwhile, West County dominated Kingston with a score of 69-11, showcasing a strong defensive effort.
The Valley Tournament also saw Bismarck crush Valley 71-9, and Valle Catholic notch their first win of the season against Lesterville with a decisive 55-28 victory.
