This year marks a century since David Dwight “D.D.” Sturgeon created the first Christmas light display in Denver, igniting a beloved tradition that continues to grow. Visitors can experience this festive spirit around Denver, with highlights including a life-sized Chewbacca wearing a Santa hat and 20,000 synchronized lights dancing to classic holiday tunes at local homes.

Christmas in Color at Red Rocks offers an immersive light show where families can drive through vibrant tunnels of color. Tickets for this breathtaking experience are available now, so don’t miss out!

Additionally, the Denver Zoo is hosting its annual light festival, illuminating over 80 acres with more than 3 million lights. This captivating event is perfect for all ages and inspires joy and wonder.

For those seeking a unique experience, Visit Denver has partnered with local drone company Brightflight to present free, nightly drone light shows at Tivoli Quad on the Auraria Campus. These shows will run every evening through the end of the year.

Make sure to stop by Union Station, which is already adorned with its year-round lights, but will soon be enhanced with a massive glowing Christmas tree and additional festive features. This iconic landmark is a must-see for anyone visiting or passing through the city.

At the Denver Botanic Gardens, the Blossoms of Light showcase celebrates 40 years of transforming the garden into a dazzling winter wonderland with immersive installations and vibrant displays.

Residents in Highlands Ranch are also joining the fun, with homes decorated to the nines and even cocoa stands set up on Fridays and Saturdays to support local cancer charities.

And while Civic Center Park is under renovation, the City and County Building will shine brightly through the National Western Stock Show, with a stunning light display captivating onlookers.

As the holiday season unfolds, these displays promise to bring joy and unity to the community. Families and friends are encouraged to take part in these events, fostering connections and making memories that will last a lifetime.
