Chatfield Teams Dominate Day One at Bi-State Classic Wrestling

UPDATE: The Chatfield boys and girls wrestling teams are making headlines at the prestigious Bi-State Classic in La Crosse, Wisconsin, following an impressive opening day on December 29, 2025. The girls’ team finished the day with the highest overall score across all participating teams, achieving an impressive 195 points, while the boys secured a strong second place with 176.5 points among 68 teams.

The standout performances came from the Chatfield girls, with Melody Ward (100 lbs), Maizee Priebe (114 lbs), Elle Eickhoff (145 lbs), and Eve Goetzinger (165 lbs) all advancing to the semifinals. Priebe and Eickhoff showcased their strength, each racking up four pins to propel their team to the top of the leaderboard.

On the boys’ side, top-ranked wrestler Joey Cady (107 lbs) led the charge, amassing 30 points through four consecutive pins, ensuring his place in Tuesday’s semifinals. Joining Cady in the semifinals are teammates Logan Pearson (126 lbs) and Kaisen Johnson (132 lbs), both delivering impressive performances throughout the day.

In addition to Chatfield’s success, other local athletes also made their mark. The Cannon Falls/Randolph team had three wrestlers advance: Garrett Williams (106 lbs), Owen Parish (113 lbs), and Adam Parish (132 lbs). Meanwhile, Zumbrota-Mazeppa‘s Carl Murray advanced to the semifinals at 120 lbs after narrowly defeating Chatfield’s Jameson Priebe by a 1-0 decision in the quarterfinals. Additionally, Hayden Holm of Goodhue is set to compete in the semifinals at 150 lbs.
