UPDATE: The Bismarck girls basketball team has clinched its first MAAA Small School championship since 2009, defeating Arcadia Valley 63-56 in a thrilling matchup on February 15, 2024, in Ironton. This victory marks a significant milestone for Bismarck as they break a five-game losing streak against the Lady Tigers.
In a high-stakes game, senior guard Halie Dickey shone brightly, scoring a game-high 23 points and securing four steals. Her performance, combined with critical plays from Kinsey Hubbs, helped Bismarck maintain a narrow lead in the final moments. The game showcased intense competition, with both teams battling fiercely for control.
Bismarck (17-4, 3-0) faced adversity with several players in foul trouble, but they remained composed under pressure. The victory is particularly noteworthy for first-year head coach Logan Blunt, who led the team with a roster of just seven players. “This win means everything to us,” Blunt stated after the game. “Our girls have worked incredibly hard, and it’s rewarding to see their efforts pay off.”
As Bismarck prepares for their next conference game against West County, they look to maintain momentum heading into district tournament play. Both teams will enter their respective district tournaments as No. 1 seeds, with Bismarck set to compete in Class 2, District 3, and Arcadia Valley in Class 3, District 3.
