The 2025 Beacon-News/Courier-News Girls Volleyball All-Area Team has been unveiled, showcasing standout athletes from various schools, with a significant presence from St. Charles North. Four players from this team have been recognized for their exceptional performances throughout the season.
Leading the first team is Haley Burgdorf, a senior outside hitter from St. Charles North. Burgdorf achieved an impressive total of 435 kills, 198 digs, 52 aces, and 23 blocks this season. Her accolades include being named an Under Armour All-American and receiving the title of First Team All-State. Additionally, she has been honored as a two-time DuKane Conference Player of the Year and has committed to play at Penn State.
Another notable player from St. Charles North is Mia McCall, also a senior and a setter. McCall recorded 767 assists, alongside 167 digs, 54 kills, 30 aces, and 23 blocks. Her achievements include an honorable mention for all-state and all-conference recognition, and she is set to join Valparaiso University.
From South Elgin, Camryn Boyd has made her mark as a freshman outside hitter. She led her team with 291 kills, adding 178 digs, 35 aces, and 24 blocks to her stats. Boyd earned all-conference honors and was recognized as an honorable mention for all-state.
Another highlight is Rylie Carlson from Newark, who, as a sophomore outside hitter, recorded 262 kills, 214 digs, and 25 blocks, earning her a spot on the first team all-state and all-conference lists.
Other Standout Players Recognized
The all-area team also includes several other remarkable athletes. Paige Genke, a senior setter from South Elgin, finished the season with 579 assists and a total of 1,536 career assists. Genke was named team MVP and honored as a two-time all-conference player.
From Oswego, Hannah Herrick made a significant impact as a junior outside hitter, tallying 326 kills, 256 digs, 41 aces, and 21 blocks, which earned her second team all-state and team MVP honors. Herrick has committed to Dayton.
In addition to these players, Elizabeth King of Hampshire achieved over 1,000 career kills with a season total of 313 kills, 150 digs, 67 aces, and 37 blocks, making her a three-time all-conference player.
The all-area team reflects the dedication and skill of young athletes across the region. Coaches and fans alike celebrate their hard work and commitment to the sport, making the 2025 season memorable.
