Chattanooga Community Mourns the Loss of Anthony Tenner at 51

The Chattanooga community is mourning the loss of Anthony Tenner, who passed away on January 17, 2026, at the age of 51. He was receiving treatment at Chi Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga when he died. Funeral services are scheduled for January 25, 2026, at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez, Mississippi, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. and the service commencing at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Tenner Cemetery in Fayette.

Born on August 26, 1974, in Natchez, Anthony was the son of Cornelius and Priscilla Tenner. He graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1992 before attending Copiah Lincoln Community College in Wesson. In 1996, Anthony began his career in the nuclear industry, ultimately joining Westinghouse in Chattanooga. His role allowed him to travel to various nuclear power plants worldwide, where he became known for his dedication and hard work.

A devoted sports fan, Anthony was particularly passionate about the Buffalo Bills. He and his wife, Cotina Monique Tenner, whom he wed on January 1, 2012, enjoyed attending games and traveling globally. His last live game was on September 9, 2025, just weeks after undergoing surgery to remove his left kidney. Aside from football, Anthony was an avid golfer, cherishing every moment spent on the course.

Anthony’s legacy extends beyond his professional achievements. He was preceded in death by several family members, including his grandparents, O.T. and Mary Tenner and Sandy and Elizabeth Griffin, as well as his in-laws, Simon Jr. and Rosie Lee Lewis, and his niece, Aysia Tenner.

He is survived by his wife, Cotina, and their children: Markevious Tenner and Jakesia Tenner, both of Dallas, Texas. Anthony was also a proud grandfather to Kree “Uno” Reed, who brought immense joy to his life. Additionally, he is survived by two sisters, Angieneil Tenner and Antreinika Hunt, as well as four nieces and one nephew, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

As the community gathers to honor Anthony’s memory, his hard work, dedication to family, and love for sports will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
