Bengals Welcome Trey Hendrickson Back for Clash with Jets
The Cincinnati Bengals will have defensive end Trey Hendrickson back in the lineup for their game against the New York Jets on October 29, 2023. After missing one week due to a hip injury, Hendrickson is active despite not practicing on Friday. He had been listed as questionable but managed to participate in limited practices earlier in the week.
Hendrickson, who has been a pivotal player for the Bengals, recorded 17 and a half sacks in each of the last two seasons. This year, he has accumulated four sacks over six games. The 30-year-old is currently playing under a one-year contract worth $29 million after expressing a desire to be traded back in March. His return comes at a crucial time for the Bengals, who hold a 3-4 record and recently secured a victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers without him.
The Bengals will face a struggling Jets team that has yet to win this season, currently sitting at 0-7. New York has allowed a league-high 31 sacks this season, presenting Hendrickson with an opportunity to add to his tally.
The Jets will be missing key players, including cornerback Sauce Gardner, who is dealing with a concussion, and quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who has a knee injury. Despite these setbacks, New York received positive news regarding their running back Breece Hall and tight end Mason Taylor. Both players are active for the game after being listed as questionable. Hall, who has rushed for 448 yards this season, is the only New York running back with over 100 rushing yards. Meanwhile, Mason Taylor has 208 receiving yards this season, ranking second on the team behind Garrett Wilson, who is inactive for the second consecutive week.
As the Bengals look to improve their standing in the league, Hendrickson’s presence on the field could prove vital in their efforts to secure a much-needed win against the Jets.
