The community of San Pedro is remembering Gloria “Glo” Ronnau, who passed away at the age of 104. She was born in Los Angeles in 1921 to Henry and Bertha Becnel. Gloria’s life was characterized by her deep commitment to family, faith, and community, values she exemplified throughout her long life.
Gloria attended Fremont High School and began her career at the Owl Rexall headquarters, where she met her husband, Don Ronnau. Don predeceased her in 2007. Together, they raised four children: Donny, who died in 2023; Diane, who passed in 2022; Ann Sidler (married to Derald); and Carol Randolph. Gloria was also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, nurturing a large family that included grandchildren such as Jennifer Randolph and Vincent Randolph.
Legacy of Love and Service
Gloria became a resident of San Pedro in 1962 and dedicated 20 years of her life to the Los Angeles Unified School District, serving at Banning High School and Dodson Middle School. Her commitment to education was matched by her devotion to family, where she created a home filled with warmth, love, and support.
Known as “Auntie Glo” to her numerous nieces and nephews, she played a significant role in their lives, offering guidance and unwavering support. Her faith was evident not through grand gestures but in her quiet acts of kindness and her readiness to help others. Gloria’s humility and generosity resonated with everyone she met, and her legacy continues through her family and friends.
Gloria witnessed a century of change, yet she remained steadfast in the values of loyalty and love. Her life was a testament to the power of devotion, shaping the lives of generations beyond her own.
Final Farewell Arrangements
A visitation will be held on December 21, 2023, from 14:00 to 18:00, featuring a recitation of the Rosary at 16:00, at Green Hills Memorial Park, Cove Room. The funeral mass will take place at 10:00 on December 22, 2023, at Holy Trinity Church, followed by burial at Green Hills Memorial Park.
