Community Mourns the Loss of David Anthony Gilles, 66

David Anthony Gilles, aged 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on an unspecified date. Born on April 27, 1959, in Glendale, California, he leaves behind a legacy of dedication and humor that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Dave, as he was affectionately known, was the son of William and Carol Gilles. He graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School and furthered his education at community colleges in Torrance, California, and Pasco, Washington. In 1980, he married Nancy Erd and together they moved to Richland, Washington, where they raised their four children: Darlene, Wendy, David, and Heather.

His professional journey began at the Hanford Nuclear Site, where he started as a bus driver. Through dedication and hard work, he climbed the ranks to become the Manager of Retrieval Operations at the Tank Farms before retiring. His career was marked by a commitment to safety and excellence in an industry known for its challenges.

In 2023, David and Nancy moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, to enjoy the home they had built together. Friends and family remember him as a tireless provider and caregiver, demonstrating patience and a strong work ethic. His reserved demeanor often concealed a sharp wit and a playful sense of humor, evident in the way he interacted with those he cared for.

David is survived by his wife, Nancy, their four children, and eleven grandchildren, as well as five great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by his brother, William Gilles, and sister-in-law, Roni. His parents preceded him in death.
