Julia Letlow Assembles Experienced Team for Senate Race

Congresswoman Julia Letlow has announced her senior campaign team for the upcoming U.S. Senate race, featuring a blend of well-known figures in Louisiana politics. She aims to unseat incumbent Senator Bill Cassidy in the Republican primary scheduled for May 5, 2024. Letlow officially entered the race in January, following her endorsement from former President Donald Trump.

At the helm of Letlow’s campaign is former Republican Congressman Ralph Abraham, who will serve as campaign chair. Abraham, a physician, recently resigned from a prominent role at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control to assist an ailing family member in Richland Parish. He previously held positions as Louisiana’s health secretary and surgeon general and unsuccessfully contested the gubernatorial election in 2019.

In a statement, Abraham expressed his support for Letlow: “Julia Letlow has demonstrated principled leadership and a tireless commitment to Louisiana. She is the proven conservative fighter our state needs in the U.S. Senate, and I am proud to lead the effort to help send her there.”

Kyle Ruckert, who served as chief of staff to Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, is guiding the campaign’s strategy as general consultant. Ruckert continues to support Landry’s re-election through his leadership of Protect Louisiana Values, a political group aimed at advancing Landry’s initiatives. His prior experience includes serving as chief of staff for former Louisiana Republican Senator David Vitter.

Letlow has also appointed Andrew Bautsch as senior adviser. Bautsch has a history with Letlow, having worked as the executive director of the Louisiana Republican Party and as a senior adviser during her three terms in Congress representing the 5th Congressional District. He previously supported Letlow’s late husband, Luke Letlow, who passed away from COVID-19 before he could assume office.

The campaign team boasts several other key members with diverse expertise. Tony Fabrizio from Fabrizio, Lee & Associates will serve as the lead pollster. John Brabender from BrabenderCox is on board for media strategy, while Ryan Smith of Rapid Loop Companies will handle direct mail efforts. The campaign management team includes Parker Carey as campaign manager and Katherine Thordahl as communications director.

Letlow emphasized the commitment of her team, stating, “Each of these individuals brings experience, integrity, and a deep dedication to securing our border, unleashing American energy, growing our economy, and protecting Louisiana families.”

As the May primary approaches, Letlow’s campaign is preparing to mobilize its resources and engage with voters across Louisiana. The combination of experienced political figures and a clear message could play a pivotal role in shaping the electoral landscape in the state.
