Jane Elizabeth Heath, aged 67, passed away on November 21, 2025, at The Barron Center in Portland, Maine, following a prolonged illness. Her family and friends remember her as a kind-hearted individual who touched many lives through her various contributions to the community.
A Life Rich with Experiences
Born in Bangor, Maine, on November 3, 1958, Jane was the daughter of the late John and Jean Heath. She graduated from Hampden Academy before pursuing further education at Katherine Gibbs College in Boston and the University of Maine. Jane’s professional journey included significant roles, notably as the Director of Human Resources for DeLorme Mapping during its formative years and later at Frank’s Bakery in Bangor.
Jane was a multifaceted person with diverse talents. She served as a notary public, officiating numerous weddings, and was renowned for her exceptional carrot cake, often baking for the weddings of family and friends. At one point, she operated her own catering business, showcasing her culinary skills.
A Passion for Travel and Creativity
In her youth, Jane developed a love for travel, exploring western Europe and the western United States. She also had a talent for knitting, creating beautiful blankets for newborns in her family and community. Jane’s warmth and laughter left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know her.
Jane is survived by her sisters, Ellen Heath, Anne Stuart (married to John), and Margaret Carignan (married to Rob), as well as her brother, Richard Heath (married to Barbara). She also leaves behind her Aunt Anne, numerous cousins, and many nieces, nephews, and their children.
In accordance with Jane’s wishes, a celebration of her life will be held in spring 2026, with the exact date to be determined. She will be laid to rest alongside her parents in Bar Harbor.
