The United Way of the Blue Mountains has appointed Rainbow Maldonado from Pendleton as the new senior advancement officer for the Oregon Region, effective early 2026. In her new role, Maldonado will be responsible for enhancing advancement and community engagement efforts across several counties, including Umatilla, Morrow, Union, Baker, and Wallowa.

Maldonado brings over 30 years of experience in community leadership, nonprofit management, and advocacy. Her longstanding support for the United Way has seen her contribute to the organization’s mission in various capacities throughout her career. She expressed her enthusiasm for this new opportunity, stating, “United Way’s mission resonates deeply with me. Maldonado holds a Bachelor of Science in political science with a focus on advocacy from Idaho State University. Currently, she is pursuing a master’s degree in public administration, concentrating on state and local nonprofit administration. Her academic pursuits reflect her commitment to strengthening the nonprofit sector in her community.
Residing in Pendleton with her husband, Maldonado enjoys outdoor activities, supports her children in collegiate soccer, and cherishes time with her family, including her first grandchild. Her personal and professional life intertwines through her dedication to community service and family values.
