Keller Public Safety Launches “Operation Gift Guardians” for Holidays

As the holiday season approaches, Keller Public Safety has introduced its “Operation Gift Guardians” initiative to protect community packages from theft. Beginning on November 28, residents of Keller and Westlake can send their holiday deliveries to the Keller Police Station, ensuring they remain secure until picked up.

This program addresses the growing concern of parcel theft, commonly referred to as “porch piracy.” The police department’s social media announcement highlights the facility’s advanced security measures and the presence of uniformed officers monitoring the packages at 330 Rufe Snow Dr.. The initiative will run until December 24, providing residents with peace of mind during a busy shopping season.

To utilize this service, participants must ship their online purchases using their legal names and present a photo ID when retrieving their packages. This process is designed to guarantee that each item reaches its designated recipient, reinforcing the program’s focus on security and accountability.

The guidelines specify that packages are limited to a maximum weight of 50 lbs. This weight restriction is in place to ease the burden on volunteers who assist in the handling and distribution of these gifts. Keller Public Safety conveyed its commitment to community safety with a reassuring message: “Don’t worry, y’all! We’re here to help.”

With the holiday shopping season underway, this initiative is a proactive measure to combat the rise in package thefts, which tend to spike during this time of year. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the program to protect their gifts and ensure a joyful holiday experience.

Keller Public Safety’s “Operation Gift Guardians” not only highlights the department’s dedication to community welfare but also fosters a sense of security among residents during this festive period.
