Kannapolis Police Department Elevates Reid to Sergeant, Burris to Lieutenant

The Kannapolis Police Department has announced significant promotions within its leadership structure. In a statement released earlier today, Police Chief Terry Spry confirmed the elevation of Arthur Reid, Jr. to the position of Sergeant and Dale Burris to Lieutenant, both in the Patrol Division.

Arthur Reid, Jr. joined the department as a Patrol Officer in 2016 and has demonstrated a notable trajectory of professional growth. He served as a Field Training Officer before transitioning to the Felony Investigations Unit, where he earned recognition as a Master Police Officer. His commendable service includes receiving a Unit Commendation and an Individual Commendation for his contributions to a homicide investigation in 2024. Reid has accumulated over 1,800 hours of professional training and holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate, along with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Everest University.

Reid’s commitment to his community and family is also noteworthy. He is a proud spouse and father, as well as an alumnus of Concord High School.

In addition to Reid’s promotion, Dale Burris has been elevated to the rank of Lieutenant. Burris, who began his service with the department in 2011, has held several key positions, including Field Training Officer and member of the Honor Guard and Special Response Team. He possesses a Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Certificate from the North Carolina Justice Academy and has completed over 3,800 hours of professional training.

A native of Mount Pleasant, Burris holds an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Rowan Cabarrus Community College. His dedication to service was recognized in 2013 when he received the Roger Dale Carter Memorial Service Award. Burris is also a twin and the son of Roy and Sherri Burris.

Both officers bring a wealth of experience and dedication to their new roles, reinforcing the Kannapolis Police Department’s commitment to effective community policing and public safety.
