Chelmsford High School Honors Ten Graduates with AP Capstone Diplomas

CHELMSFORD — A total of ten recent graduates from Chelmsford High School, along with one current senior, have been awarded the prestigious AP Capstone Diplomas. This program is designed to enhance students’ critical thinking, research capabilities, collaboration, and presentation skills, all of which are vital for success in both academic and professional arenas.

To qualify for the AP Capstone Diploma, students must achieve scores of 3 or higher in both AP Seminar and AP Research, in addition to four other AP exams of their choice. The graduates recognized this year include: Margot Betton, Joseph Evans, Julia Fields, Jessica Jerusal, Shalini Kirubakara, Sahana Macherla, Anne Magny, Anjana Muraleedaran, Jocelyn Pica, Sophia Roy, and Jennifer Yu.

Significance of the AP Capstone Program

Stephanie Quinn, the K-12 Social Sciences Department Coordinator for Chelmsford Public Schools, commended the achievements of these students. “We are incredibly proud of the students who participated in the AP Capstone Diploma program,” said Quinn. “With the help of our dedicated teachers, these students were able to explore their passions through scholarly research in an impactful, multi-year program that will serve them well long after high school.”

In the 2024-25 academic year, more than 160,000 students across over 3,500 schools globally participated in the AP Capstone program. Approximately 27,650 students earned the AP Capstone Diploma, while an additional 12,430 students received the AP Seminar and Research Certificate.

Empowering Students for Future Success

The AP Capstone program is designed to reignite curiosity among students. Bianca Peart, the Global Director of the AP Capstone Diploma program, emphasized its impact. “Students not only build essential skills for college and career success but also discover how their voices and ideas can make an impact,” Peart stated.

Trevor Packer, the head of the Advanced Placement Program, extended his congratulations to all students who earned AP Capstone Diplomas and AP Seminar and Research Certificates during the academic year. “Their hard work has helped them build foundational skills in project management, presentation, collaboration, and research that will contribute to their success in college and in their professional careers,” Packer remarked.

The achievements of these Chelmsford High School students highlight the importance of rigorous academic programs that prepare students for the challenges of higher education and the workforce. As they transition from high school to their next endeavors, the skills gained through the AP Capstone program will undoubtedly serve them well in their future pursuits.
