Timothy Andrew McGowan, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry and a passionate theatre enthusiast, passed away in early 2025 after a courageous fight against leukemia. He was 67 years old. McGowan, who lived in Encino, California, was known for his professional achievements and deep connections to his community.

Early Life and Career

Born in 1957 in Brooklyn, New York, to James and Joan McGowan, Timothy was the third of six children in a family of Irish descent. In 1966, the McGowan family relocated to Maywood, New Jersey, where Tim spent his formative years and attended Our Lady Queen of Peace. In 1971, the family made another move, this time to California, settling in the San Fernando Valley the following year.

Timothy’s education continued at Chaminade High School, an institution he cherished throughout his life. After graduating, he began a distinguished career in the entertainment industry. In 1985, he joined Columbia Pictures as a research analyst, eventually rising to the position of Vice President of Research at CBS/KCAL-9.

Family and Personal Life

In 1986, while performing at the Showboat Theatre, McGowan met Susan McDermott, and they married the following year. Together, they welcomed two sons: Matthew in 1989 and Morgan in 1992. Years later, Timothy reconnected with his former classmate, Pamela Meyer, forging a devoted partnership that lasted over 15 years and took them on travels around the globe.

In 2010, McGowan returned to theatre after a 25-year hiatus, participating in various productions in the Santa Clarita area. During this time, he also achieved dual citizenship in Ireland and completed two Associate of Arts degrees.

Timothy faced significant health challenges in his later years. In 2022, he bravely overcame duodenal cancer; however, in late 2024, he received a diagnosis of leukemia, which ultimately led to his passing.

McGowan is survived by his life partner, Pam, his sons, Matthew and Morgan, and his siblings, Terry, Jim, Colleen, and Cathy. He will be remembered fondly by family and friends for his warmth, passion, and resilience. Timothy McGowan’s legacy in both his professional career and personal connections will be cherished by all who knew him.
