Valley Art Association Launches 54th Annual Art Show in Oakdale

The Valley Art Association, in collaboration with the City of Oakdale, is set to showcase regional talent at its 54th Annual Art Show. This anticipated event will take place at the Gene Bianchi Community Center on the weekend of March 7-8, 2025. The show opens to the public on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and continues on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Entry to the event is free, making it accessible for art enthusiasts and the general public alike.

On Sunday, the event will culminate in an awards reception at 3 p.m.. Attendees will have the opportunity to view a diverse range of artwork and participate in the People’s Choice Award by voting for their favorite piece. This interactive element encourages community engagement and highlights the importance of local artists.

Artists wishing to participate can submit their work at the community center on March 5 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on March 6 from 10 a.m. to noon. The exhibition will feature artwork across nine classifications, including oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, photography, pottery, and sculpture, among others. Awards and ribbons will be awarded for first, second, third place, and honorable mentions in each category.

This year, the show invites high school students to enter their artwork as well. Student entries will be evaluated in two classifications: 2-D and 3-D art, and will also have the opportunity to receive awards and ribbons for their outstanding contributions. This inclusion aims to inspire young artists and provide them with a platform to showcase their creativity.

In addition to the art displays, several tables will feature silent auction items, with proceeds directed toward scholarships for graduating high school seniors pursuing art-related majors. This initiative underscores the Valley Art Association’s commitment to fostering the next generation of artists.

The Valley Art Association regularly convenes on the second Monday of each month at the Gladys Lemmons Senior Community Center, located at 450 E. A St., Oakdale, at 6:30 p.m.. All individuals interested in the arts are encouraged to attend these meetings, fostering a sense of community among local artists and art lovers.
