The historic Hays County Courthouse in San Marcos is set to host its annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony on December 3, promising to illuminate both the building and the festive spirit of the community. This year’s event, organized by Hays County, will take place from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., featuring a schedule packed with musical performances and the arrival of Santa Claus.
The evening will kick off with a performance by the San Marcos High School Orchestra at 6:15 p.m., followed by the much-anticipated arrival of Santa and the official countdown to the courthouse lighting at 6:40 p.m. Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra emphasized the importance of this event, stating, “This event is a cherished tradition that brings our community together. We look forward to celebrating the season with music, lights, and holiday cheer for families of all ages.”
Festive Performances and Community Spirit
Following Santa’s arrival, the festivities will continue with performances from local groups. The San Marcos Mariachi will take the stage at 7:00 p.m., showcasing vibrant music that embodies the holiday spirit. The Lehman High School Choir will perform at 7:30 p.m., adding to the evening’s joyful atmosphere. The program will conclude with the Lehman High School Mariachi taking the spotlight at 8:00 p.m.
Attendees are encouraged to capture the magic of the evening, as Santa will be available for photos throughout the event. The ceremony is free and open to the public, with a large turnout expected at the courthouse located at 111 E. San Antonio St..
