Sam Raimi Reunites with Rachel McAdams for New Film “Send Help”

Veteran director Sam Raimi has collaborated once again with actress Rachel McAdams in his latest film, Send Help. This partnership comes on the heels of their previous work together in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where a specific scene sparked Raimi’s desire to team up with McAdams once more.

Raimi, renowned for his contributions to the horror genre, expressed his admiration for McAdams during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. He cited a pivotal scene in Doctor Strange that showcased McAdams’ talent and left a lasting impression on him. In that film, Doctor Strange attempts to dreamwalk into Sinister Strange, which leads to an intense moment where spectral entities attack McAdams’ character, Christine Palmer.

Recalling the filming process, Raimi noted that the action sequence featuring McAdams was added during reshoots. He remembered asking her, “Do you mind [if] there’s gonna be a ghost attack sequence, and you’re assaulted by these ghosts?” He expected some hesitation but was pleasantly surprised when McAdams responded with enthusiasm, asking, “Okay, what do we do?”

Raimi praised her commitment to the scene, stating, “She put so much gusto into it and authenticity that she made the ghost scene work.” He emphasized that while he had talented animators assisting with the visual effects, McAdams’ performance was integral to the scene’s success. This experience solidified his decision to work with her again, leading to the creation of Send Help.

In this new film, McAdams portrays an employee in a company’s Planning & Strategy Department who finds herself stranded on an isolated island with her new CEO. The film is currently showing in theatres, marking another significant entry in both Raimi’s and McAdams’ careers.

As audiences can see, the collaboration between Raimi and McAdams has resulted in compelling storytelling, showcasing their strong professional chemistry that began with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. With Send Help, they continue to captivate viewers and push the boundaries of their artistic endeavors.
