Harman Baweja and Arati Kadav Reunite for New Film Project

Producer Harman Baweja and director Arati Kadav have announced their reunion for a new film project, marking their second collaboration after the success of last year’s drama, “Mrs.” This announcement coincides with the one-year anniversary of “Mrs.,” a film that gained critical acclaim and became a significant cultural reference point for its in-depth exploration of domestic identity and gender dynamics.

“Mrs.,” which starred Sanya Malhotra, was produced by Baweja’s Baweja Studios in partnership with Jio Studios, led by Jyoti Deshpande. The film was well-received, earning accolades at prominent film festivals such as Black Nights Tallinn and IFFI Goa, and it collected several awards across major platforms. It recontextualized Jeo Baby’s Malayalam cult classic, “The Great Indian Kitchen,” adapting it to a North Indian cultural setting while incorporating traditional elements like Karwa Chauth. The narrative highlighted the gradual loss of a woman’s identity within domestic confines.

Baweja, who co-wrote “Mrs.” with Kadav, expressed enthusiasm about their new project, stating, “The success of ‘Mrs.’ reaffirmed my belief that audiences are ready for audacious cinema that is intimate and transformative all at once.” He emphasized the excitement of collaborating with Kadav, describing the partnership as invigorating. “When a collaboration is built on trust and shared intent, you naturally want to create again. This next project is born from that very faith,” he added.

Kadav also shared her sentiments about the collaboration, stating, “I feel very happy, safe, inspired, and delighted to work with Harman Baweja. He and his team, including our creative producer Tasneem Lokhandwala, have always helped me do my best.” She attributed the success of “Mrs.” to the strong collaborative environment fostered by Baweja Studios and expressed her eagerness to continue working with Baweja. “Baweja Studios feels like home,” she remarked.

This announcement comes as Baweja Studios continues to build on its momentum with the recent release of “Haq.” The studio also has an active development slate for 2026, which includes projects such as “Dil Ka Darwaza Kholo Na Darling,” “Captain India,” and “Boy From Andaman,” alongside additional projects currently in development.

The return of Baweja and Kadav to the screen reinforces their commitment to creating thought-provoking and emotionally resonant films, promising to push creative boundaries in their upcoming work.
