Beloved Veteran and Outdoor Enthusiast Kenneth Hart Passes Away

Kenneth Michael Hart, a cherished father, brother, and friend, died on August 11, 2025, at his home in Pasadena, California. He was born on June 10, 1951, in San Jose, California, to Kenneth Hart Sr. and Joan Hart, becoming the second of four boys in the family. A lifelong resident of the area, he spent much of his life in the family home on 12th Street.

A dedicated member of the military, Kenneth Hart served as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy during the Vietnam War, stationed out of San Diego. Following his military service, he embarked on a lengthy career as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Felton, California, where he thrived in the picturesque environment near the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Kenneth’s passion for the outdoors defined much of his life. He enjoyed fishing along the Monterey coastline, and often sought trout in alpine lakes. An avid outdoorsman, he loved car camping, backpacking, and hiking, sharing this enthusiasm with his children.

On February 28, 1973, Kenneth married Terri Owen in a private elopement, followed by a more formal ceremony on July 7, 1973. Although their marriage lasted 22 years, they maintained a strong friendship until Kenneth’s passing. He is survived by their two children, Jimmy and Megan, along with two grandchildren, Annabella and Hunter. He is also remembered by his best friend since childhood, Gary, and his two brothers, Doug and Mitch.

Kenneth Hart will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, compassionate nature, and unconditional love for his family and animals. His life touched many, and he will be dearly missed.

Funeral services are scheduled for March 13, 2025, at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, family members request that donations be made to The Sierra Club, honoring Kenneth’s enduring love for the mountains and the natural world.
