Belfield Public School is set to showcase its fifth consecutive annual production, “Bibbity Bobbity BAAM!” This engaging play, featuring a robust cast of 20 students, will be performed at the Belfield Theater on Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1, following two preview shows for fellow students on February 27.
The play focuses on the early life of the Fairy Godmother from *Cinderella*, depicting her experiences at “Pixie School” and her interactions with iconic characters like Tinkerbell and those from *Sleeping Beauty*. Co-directors Stacie Wagner and Rachelle Klein have guided the cast through a creative process that has seen students take on multiple roles, showcasing their talents and versatility.
Stacie Wagner expressed pride in the students’ growth during rehearsals, noting that many of the senior cast members have participated in the school’s productions for over three years. “It’s been really great, and there are a couple of aspects that stand out for this play – our senior leadership is impressive,” Wagner said. “By their senior year, it’s fun to watch them come up with their own humorous contributions while becoming more confident and creative.”
Among the cast members, sophomore Faith Forrest plays Petal, while senior Samantha Romanyshyn takes on the role of Past Merlin. Other prominent seniors include Elise Fugere as the Evil Queen and Helga, Tessa Wanner as Gisela, and Aubrey Roberts as Merriweather from *Cinderella*.
Senior Maci Wanner not only plays Flora but also serves as the costume designer for the production. The role of narrator Merlin is portrayed by Kitty Nelson, while freshman Peyton Buckman plays Froggie, and Ava Redig embodies Tinkerbell. The cast also features Paige Zacher as Fauna and Robyn Lakely in the role of Pixie 2.
Wagner highlighted the challenge of selecting a production that accommodates a large cast with limited male roles. The play includes only two male characters, played by William Davenport as Bossy and the limo driver, and Aiden Black as Lazy. “I give them props for joining,” Wagner noted. “Our seniors are very funny, and you’ll see them in side roles, many of them portraying multiple characters, adding humor throughout.”
The script for “Bibbity Bobbity BAAM!” was written by Charlotte Nixon, a playwright known for her expertise in teenage dramas and children’s theatre. The production was made possible with support from a $3,000 grant from the Belfield Post 144 American Legion, which helped kick off the school’s theatre activities.
Tickets for the performances are priced at $10 for adults and $5 for students. They will be available for purchase at the theater door, with no advance sales offered.
