Intel Corporation has introduced its latest line of desktop processors, the Core Ultra 200S Plus series, on March 11, 2024. This new series is led by the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and the Core Ultra 5 250K/KF Plus. These processors promise significant advancements in performance, particularly for gaming and content creation.
The Core Ultra 7 features an impressive 24 cores, while the Core Ultra 5 offers 18 cores. Both models boast a notable increase in die-to-die frequency, with a rise of 900 MHz. This architectural enhancement aims to reduce system latency and improve the connection speed between the CPU and memory controller, positioning these processors as Intel’s fastest desktop solutions to date.
Innovative Features and Enhanced Performance
A standout addition in this release is the Intel Binary Optimization Tool, designed to enhance instructions per cycle and optimize native performance for various games and workloads. This tool allows for improved functionality even for applications that were initially tailored for different architectures.
In terms of memory capabilities, the new processors support DDR5 7200 MT/s and early support for 4-Rank CUDIMM memory, which can accommodate up to 128GB per module. Intel claims these advancements will double content creation performance compared to competitors in the segment, while also ensuring compatibility with existing 800-series chipset motherboards.
Availability and Market Impact
The Core Ultra 200S Plus series is set to be available for retail starting on March 26, 2024. System integrators and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are also expected to launch systems powered by these new processors at the same time. New 800-series motherboard models will arrive throughout the year to support this initiative.
